Beijing Assails Searchers for Oil in South China Sea

BEIJING —
China accused Vietnam and other countries Friday of increasing military tension around the disputed Spratly Islands by using foreign investment to search for oil in the South China Sea.
The official Liberation Army Newspaper made the accusation in a lengthy commentary predicting increased military conflicts around the world over dwindling natural resources.
Vietnam and other countries had encroached on several dozen islands and reefs where China claims sovereignty, the newspaper said.
