The Center for the Study of Decorative Arts in San Juan Capistrano has formed a Parents Council to teach children about gardens and architecture as well as the decorative arts. Hands-on family workshops will be offered in such areas as furniture-making, sculpture and painting. The inaugural event, “A Sunday Afternoon in the Garden” May 20 from 2 to 4 p.m., will be free to parents and children. Information: (714) 496-2132.
