Mercedes-Benz Announces Recall: Mercedes-Benz of North America said it is recalling 1,584 of its 300 series sedans and wagons from the 1990-model year to replace a pre-resistor device for the engine fan. The West German car maker said from its U.S. headquarters in Montvale, N.J., that it was aware of three incidents in which a plastic cover on the resistor melted but caused no extensive damage. Cars affected by the voluntary recall include the 300E 2.6, 300E, 300E 4Matic sedans, 300TE and 300TE 4Matic wagons, and 300CE coupes.
