The following is a summary of Southern California-related business litigation developments during the week of April 23:
Giorgio Claims Copyright Infringement: Giorgio Beverly Hills, Inc., which is owned by Avon Products Inc., filed suit in U.S. District Court, claiming a hangtag on jeans violates its copyright for the carton design of Giorgio’s “Red” fragrance. The suit says Bebo Beverly Hills and its owner, Bebo Kobo, manufacture and sell jeans that use bright red hangtags “virtually identical” to the Giorgio package design. The suit seeks an accounting and unstated damages including a punitive award. (Filed April 24, 1990. Case No. 90-2047)
