NAMES IN THE NEWS : Fellowes to Be Queen’s Adviser
Princess Diana’s brother-in-law, Sir Robert Fellowes, is to become Queen Elizabeth II’s private secretary and Keeper of Her Majesty’s Archives, Buckingham Palace announced today. Fellowes, 49, who married Lady Jane Spencer, the elder of Diana’s two sisters, will succeed Sir William Heseltine as the queen’s most senior adviser when Heseltine retires in October. Heseltine, an Australian, had long said he wanted to retire after his 60th birthday in July. Fellowes has been the queen’s deputy private secretary since 1986.
