THE SIDELINES : 2 Sentenced in Dale Ellis Case
Two nightclub bouncers have been sentenced to four months in jail for seeking money from Seattle SuperSonics guard Dale Ellis in exchange for favorable testimony in his drunk-driving case.
Guy Thomas, 24, of Spokane and Russell Holladay, 22, formerly of Federal Way and now of Clarkston, were sentenced Monday by King County Superior Court Judge Jim Bates after pleading guilty to offering to testify on behalf of Ellis in exchange for $50,000.
Thomas and Holladay were doormen at the Celebrity Bar & Grill in Pioneer Square where Ellis was seen shortly before his Mercedes roadster piled into a freeway on-ramp divider Jan. 12.
The crash left Ellis, who already had an extensive record of traffic violations, with a collapsed lung and several broken ribs. The high-scoring guard missed several weeks of action and is awaiting trial for reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
