IBM to Buy Stake in Silicon Valley Firm: International Business Machines will acquire a minority interest of 5% to 8.3% in Valid Logic Systems, a developer of software for integrated electronic design automation. Valid, based in San Jose, had 1989 revenue of $174 million and employs 1,000 people at 46 locations. The company makes software for IBM computer systems.
