Martin Shwartz; Civic Light Opera Publicity Chief

Martin Shwartz, longtime director of publicity for the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera and before that a Broadway press agent who represented such landmark productions as the original “My Fair Lady,” “Camelot” and “Funny Girl,” has died.
He was 66 when he died Sunday of cancer in Los Angeles.
Shwartz had been on Broadway, where his shows included “Do I Hear a Waltz?,” “The Lion in Winter” and “Mr. President” when he began an association with the Civic Light Opera in 1953, representing a production of “Kismet.”
In 1972 he came to Los Angeles as director of publicity for the local company. He retired in 1988.
