* OPEN HOUSE: The Pasadena Humane Society’s annual open house, featuring pet adoptions, exotic birds, a raffle and a bake sale, will be held today from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
* ENGLISH-ONLY CASE: A hearing is scheduled for Monday to determine whether the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission may join a civil rights lawsuit accusing a Pomona hospital of requiring foreign-born nurses to speak only English at work. The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
