West Coast Bancorp: The Orange-based bank holding company reported earnings of $376,000, down 22% from the $481,000 recorded for the quarter the year before. John B. Joseph, chairman and chief executive, attributed the drop to an increase in the company’s provision for possible credit losses and a decrease in the company’s net-interest margin. Total assets were up 13% from a year ago, to $467.8 million from $415.5 million. West Coast Bancorp subsidiaries are Sunwest Bank and Heritage Thrift & Loan in Orange County and Sacramento First National Bank.
