WASHINGTON — MCI Communications Corp. said it was awarded a non-exclusive three-year contract by American Express Co. to provide data, messaging and voice-network services.
The contract is the largest awarded MCI by American Express since the two companies began working together in the early 1970s. It includes an option for an additional two-year period, making a potential five-year arrangement valued at up to $100 million, according to MCI President Bert C. Roberts Jr.
The agreement calls for MCI to provide services to all five American Express operating units.
