THE SIDELINES : Clippers Denied OK to Contact Wilkins About Coaching Job
The Clippers have been denied permission to discuss their vacant head coaching job with Cleveland Cavaliers coach Lenny Wilkens, a spokesman for the Clippers said today.
Wilkens just completed his fourth season as the Cavaliers’ head coach and has one year remaining on his contract. The Cavaliers were beaten three games to two in their best-of-five first-round NBA playoff series by the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this month.
The Clippers announced on April 22, the day the NBA regular season was completed, that Don Casey wouldn’t be back next season as the team’s head coach.
The Clippers were 30-52 this season, their best record since they went 32-50 in 1985-86.
