American Stores May Sell Off Unit: American Stores Co. said it is considering the sale of Buttrey Food & Drug, a division of American’s wholly owned subsidiary, American Food & Drug Inc. The firm said it is weighing the sale in part because of continuing litigation over the merger of its Lucky and Alpha Beta units.
