THE SIDELINES : Ex-Fresno Player Shot in Leg

FRESNO —
A former basketball player at Fresno State who was shot in the leg during a dispute over use of a telephone was reported in stable condition today.
Andre Sims, 23, was taken to Valley Medical Center after he was wounded Saturday afternoon at a motel.
Police said Sims’ assailant fired four shots, and one struck Sims in the upper thigh. The assailant was not captured.
Sims played for the Bulldogs in his freshman and sophomore seasons before leaving the team.
