Cantinflas in Contempt: Contempt of court charges have been filed against Mexican superstar Mario “Cantinflas” Moreno in divorce proceedings in Houston. Joyce Jett-Moreno, Moreno’s wife for more than 20 years, had asked State District Court Judge Robert Webb to jail or fine Moreno for repeated violations of the court order issued last October stipulating the actor to pay $20,000 in monthly spousal support. She also claimed that the actor had failed to provide her with “even the basic necessities of life” even though he has $10 million in cash in the U.S. Webb set a June 12 court date to hear evidence. Moreno has produced, directed and starred in more than 70 films, including “Around the World in 80 Days.”
