Chrysler Investing $190 Million in 3 Plants: Chrysler Corp. will invest $190 million to modernize three Indiana plants, the company said. Chrysler said it would spend $150 million to expand its Kokomo transmission plant by 150,000 square feet and to buy equipment to produce a new electronically controlled automatic transaxle for 1993 model cars. The company said it will spend about $28 million for equipment at its New Castle machining and forge plant, while the rest will be invested at the company’s Kokomo casting plant for new die-cast tooling.
