“Twin Peaks” will return in September, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” gets a twin and ABC will air a new Steve Bochco show described as part opera, part rock concert and part cop show, the network announced today.

The shows to get the ax were “Saturday Mystery Movie,” “Anything But Love,” “Just The 10 of Us” and “Mission Impossible.” Continuing in production but not on the schedule are “Equal Justice” and “Head of the Class.”

The network solved its dilemma about what show to program after “America’s Funniest Home Videos” by programming a second half-hour, “America’s Funniest . . . Part II.”

The remaining new shows include three half-hour sitcoms and two hourlong dramas. They are:

“Baby Talk”: Connie Sellecca stars in this show based on the hit movie, “Look Who’s Talking.”

“Married People”: Three generations of couples--newlyweds, baby boomers and elderweds--share a New York brownstone.

“Going Places”: Four talented young people move to Los Angeles to work on their first television show.

“Cop Rock”: The Steven Bochco production focuses on a group of urban cops dealing with street crime, but also includes songs and elaborate musical production numbers.

“Gabriel’s Fire”: James Earl Jones stars as Gabriel Bird, a man released from jail 20 years later, thanks to a determined, principled, high-society woman attorney.

The new ABC schedule:
