Players International Inc., a Calabasas company that offers members of its club discount travel packages to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with a unit of Merv Griffin Enterprises to produce telephone call-in games based on the “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” television game shows. Merv Griffin produces the game shows.
Players International said it would begin marketing the “Jeopardy!” phone game in June. Participants will call in on a 900 number and compete for a daily $1,000 cash award and other prizes. Monthly grand prize winners of the “Jeopardy!” phone game will win $10,000 and a trip for two to Hollywood to attend a taping of the television game show, it said.
The company said the charge to the caller is expected to be $1 to $2 per minute.
