Cypress Files a Lawsuit Against AMD: Cypress Semiconductor’s motion to amend its counterclaim against Advanced Micro Devices charges that AMD has for several years been involved in a scheme to monopolize the programmable logic devices (PLD) market in violation of federal and state antitrust laws. Cypress seeks in excess of $30 million in damages. In August, 1988, AMD sued Cypress, alleging that Cypress had infringed AMD patents.
