Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak told world socialist leaders Tuesday that the immigration of Soviet Jews into Israel’s occupied territories could spark a new Middle East war, and he accused the Jewish state of undermining peace efforts.

“(The Jewish immigration) threatens to blow up the peace march and put the whole region on the verge of a new bloody confrontation,” Mubarak told the opening session of a meeting of the Socialist International.
