MPAA Lawsuit No. 2: The Motion Picture Assn. of America has been slapped with its second lawsuit in a week over its “adults only” X rating. Miramax Films filed a suit on Wednesday in New York Supreme Court accusing the MPAA of violating a state law prohibiting private or public bodies from “arbitrary and capricious” actions when it gave the Spanish film “Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!” an X. On May 18, Mijack Productions sued the MPAA in federal court over the X rating given to “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.” Both “Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!” and “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” have been released without any rating in some markets.
