Share

The Simi Valley chapter of the League of Women Voters is sponsoring a question-and-answer forum tonight for candidates running for the 37th Assembly District seat and the 4th District county supervisor’s seat.

The forum is to begin at 7 p.m. in the Simi Valley City Council chambers.

Each candidate will be given four minutes to make an opening statement before taking questions from the audience, said Grace Bernstein, director of the League of Women Voters.

Candidates for the Assembly seat participating in the first part of the forum include Hunt Braly, a top aide to state Sen. Ed Davis (R-Santa Clarita), Democratic candidate Dennis Petrie and Libertarian candidate John Spooner.

Assemblywoman Cathie Wright (R-Simi Valley) will not attend but has said that she will send a representative, Bernstein said.

All five candidates for the supervisorial seat will take part in the second part of the forum, beginning at 8:15 p.m., Bernstein said.

Those candidates include Vicky Howard and Bill Davis, both Simi Valley City Council members; Glen Schmidt, a Moorpark planning commissioner; Harold Fick, a Simi Valley resident, and Tom Ely, a trustee of the Ventura County Community College District.
