Jerry D. Cherrington, an insurance executive, has been appointed to the Santa Clarita Planning Commission, filling a vacancy created by the death of real estate broker Jeannette Sharar.
Cherrington, 53, has lived in the city two years, and City Council members said he would bring a fresh perspective to the commission. The council appointed Cherrington to a four-year term Wednesday night.
The council has yet to decide whether to reappoint Commissioners Connie Worden and Pat Modugno, whose terms expire July 1. Twenty-seven people applied for the three seats on the Planning Commission.
