WORLD IN BRIEF : BRITAIN : Pan Am Jet Lands After Bomb Scare

A Pan American World Airways jumbo jet bound for the United States made an unscheduled stop at Prestwick Airport near Glasgow, Scotland, after a bomb scare, police said. No explosives were found on the Boeing 747, and it continued its journey after five hours on the ground. Police said one passenger, told by another passenger that a bomb might have been planted on the plane, relayed the information to the crew. Police detained a man traveling on the plane, which was carrying 208 passengers and crew on a flight from Frankfurt, West Germany, to Washington.
