Businessland in Japan Venture: The largest U.S. retailer of computers to businesses announced a long-awaited deal to sell personal computers in Japan through a $20-million joint venture with five major Japanese electronics manufacturers and distributors. It said the deal is unusual in that it indicates a willingness by Japanese firms to help fund the entry of an American retailer into Japan’s market. Businessland will hold a 54% equity stake in the venture, to be called Businessland Japan Co.
