Obituaries : Aracely Cervantes Hernandez; Sylmar High School athlete

A rosary will be said tonight for Aracely Cervantes Hernandez, an 18-year-old Sylmar High School senior who died in a car accident last week.

Miss Hernandez, who worked at Magic Mountain, played varsity softball and powder puff football for Sylmar High. She was to graduate later this month and planned to study business at Cal State Northridge.

She was killed last Friday in Mission Hills.

The rosary will be said at 7 p.m. at J.T. Oswald Chapel, 1001 N. Maclay Ave. in San Fernando, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be said at 9 a.m. Friday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church, 668 S. Workman, in San Fernando. Burial will be in Mexico.

She is survived by her mother, Maurilia Hernandez; father, Arturo Hernandez; brothers, Salvador Hernandez, Carlos Hernandez, George Hernandez and Ernesto Hernandez, and a sister, Lourdes Cervantes.

J.T. Oswald Mortuary in San Fernando is handling the arrangements.
