Giants’ Wilson Loses No-Hitter in 9th
Trevor Wilson had an earned-run average of 6.00 in three appearances for the San Francisco Giants, but he flirted with immortality Wednesday night at San Diego.
Wilson, a 24-year-old right-hander from Torrance, lost his bid for a no-hitter when Mike Pagliarulo lined a single to right on a 3-and-1 count to open the ninth inning.
Wilson retired the next three batters and pitched the surging Giants to a 6-0 victory, their 11th in the past 12 games.
Wilson, who struck out 12 and walked none, was almost perfect. The only baserunner through eight innings was Benito Santiago, who struck out in the fifth on a wild pitch and reached first.
