Olga Havlova, wife of Czechoslovakian President Vaclav Havel, stayed at the Plaza Hotel as the guest of Czechoslovak native Ivana Trump while in New York to raise money for her country’s handicapped. A Monday night fund-raiser brought in $60,000. Another Czechoslovak expatriate, director Milos Forman, also took part by announcing a $5,000 donation to the first lady’s fund from Paul Newman . . . George Martin, who once produced the Beatles’ records, was named the music business’s top producer in a poll of industry experts for the 20th anniversary issue of Recording Engineer/Producer magazine. He edged out Phil Spector, creator of the “wall of sound” in the early 1960s, and Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson’s producer.
