Janet Adkins’ Controversial Assisted Suicide
In his June 10 Commentary piece about Kevorkian, Patrick Buchanan asks, “If it is reasonable for someone to choose death, is it not equally reasonable for us to choose it for those who cannot make the decision themselves, i.e., the incurably insane?”
The answer is, of course, no. There is a world of difference between assisting in the suicide of a sane, dying person and taking the life of someone who cannot make the decision himself.
I’d also like to remind Buchanan that one doesn’t need a religion or a belief in God to be a caring and responsible person.
