Low Voter Turnout for Primary

Share

If the registrar of voters and the post office would get the absentee ballot to the voters 10 days before election day maybe there would be more voter participation.

After working eight hours, my husband is on a kidney machine for three hours; he arrives home at 8 p.m. exhausted. I called the registrar of voters office and was told that the ballots were sent out May 31. The absentee ballot arrived the afternoon of election day postmarked June 3. The mail in this area is picked up at 4:30 p.m. So this means those who wish to vote by mail are denied their vote unless they have someone to hand-carry their ballot to the polls (which I did).

Assemblyman Tom Bane sent my husband an application for a permanent absentee ballot; we will see what happens in November.
