3-D Systems Secures Another Modeling Patent

3-D Systems, a Valencia company that manufactures machines for rapidly making plastic models, said it won a new patent enlarging the scope of the technology to which the company has rights.

With the new patent, 3-D said it believes that all “potentially competitive” devices by other companies would infringe on its patents. In April, 3-D accused Quadrax Corp. of Rhode Island of infringing on its patents and warned that it might file suit against the company. Quadrax had declined comment.

3-D’s machines combine a computer, laser and chemicals to make the models.
