Sweden Proposes Marriage Rights for Gay Couples

Sweden’s Social Welfare Board on Monday proposed giving homosexuals living together almost the same rights as married couples in a move to publicly recognize their relationships and curtail the spread of AIDS.

The proposal could become law by July 1, 1992. It would give homosexual couples almost all marital rights except the right to adopt children, the board said.
