IBM Introduces Networking Products: Responding to customer demand, International Business Machines presented new hardware and software to create networks that allow computer systems produced by different manufacturers to communicate. IBM also presented a strategy to help customers design computer network systems and plan for expansion. The new products answer a major problem faced by many business computer users who need to make different hardware units communicate as well as share and process information, IBM said.
