Southern Connecticut Newspapers Inc., a subsidiary of Los Angeles-based Times Mirror Co., publisher of The Times, announced that negotiations to acquire Acorn Press Inc., publisher of a group of five weekly newspapers serving Fairfield County, Conn., have been terminated by mutual agreement . . . Burbank-based Walt Disney Co. said it is offering $2.25 billion of Liquid Yield Option Notes due 2005. The size of the offering was increased to the $2.25-billion principal amount at maturity from $1.5 billion through an amendment filed with the SEC.
