Cerritos : 2 Streets to Be Disrupted During Storm Drain Work

Share

Construction is scheduled to begin the first week in July to build a storm drain along two streets in an industrial area of Cerritos.

The project will involve installing about 400 feet of 57-inch reinforced concrete pipe and some underground box-like reservoirs also made of reinforced concrete. The new drain will connect with an existing drain on Midway Street just west of Marquardt Avenue, and extend west on Midway and south toward a cul-de-sac on Distribution Way. Street traffic will be restricted to one lane on Midway and Distribution during the 30 days of construction.

A spokesman for the contractor, Mike Prlich and Sons of South El Monte, said the firm has been waiting for utility companies to relocate telephone and electrical lines before beginning work under a $305,851 contract awarded by the County Board of Supervisors. Nine firms submitted bids for the job, the highest being $587,605.
