Philippine troops arrested a Communist rebel who admitted involvement in the December bombing of a U.S. recreational center in Manila, the chief of the National Police said Saturday.

Maj. Gen. Cesar Nazareno identified the guerrilla as Jose Llesis and said Llesis admitted he was one of eight rebels in a van who fired two rifle grenades inside the Seafront sports and recreation facility, about a mile from the U.S. Embassy, Dec. 14, 1989. The attack caused minor damage but no casualties.
