Buddy Holly Fever: Actor Gary Busey will be reunited soon with rock legend Buddy Holly’s Gibson acoustic guitar that the actor used when he portrayed Holly in the 1978 film “The Buddy Holly Story.” Busey paid $242,000 in a phone bid during an auction of Holly memorabilia at Sotheby’s New York on Saturday. A Fender Stratocaster electric guitar was sold for $110,000, and a pair of the singer’s trademark glasses went for $45,100. “Late Night With David Letterman” bandleader Paul Shaffer paid $10,175 for three letters that Holly wrote to his parents. The 97 items auctioned brought in more than $700,000.
