An eclectic mixture of dramas, American and foreign--modern, revivalist and classic--with a smattering of comedy. That’s how the Basement Theatre describes itself.

Its latest production, George Bernard Shaw’s “Arms and the Man,” will run through July 21 at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 7 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $8. The cast includes, left, David Hammerbeck, Stephan Morrow, center, and Nancy Ellison-Hadler.

The theater is in the basement of the First Congregational Church, 464 E. Walnut St., Pasadena.

The Basement Theatre is a descendant of the La Canada Players, established in 1961. The Players took on a new identity when the group moved to find better work space in 1985. Since then, the group has done five to six productions a year.
