Law Firms to Merge: Hawaii’s largest law firm, 112-year-old Carlsmith, Wichman, Case, Mukai & Ichiki, will merge July 1 with the Los Angeles/Long Beach firm of Ball, Hunt, Hart, Brown & Baerwitz. The resulting 75-lawyer firm will be based in Honolulu. Carlsmith’s Tom Van Winkle will be chairman of the executive committee.
