“No Citizens Above Suspicion, Please” (editorials, June 21) is a lofty notion. The only problem is that it’ll never fly high enough to reach someone whose birth certificate assures him ironclad political immunity from any prosecution, such as Neil Bush. Which only proves, it sure helps if your pappy is the President.
Taking a page from his pappy’s book, which was copied from the Reagan Administration’s Code of Conduct manual, young Bush arrogantly sneers at the concept of accountability and seeks refuge in the sanctum sanctorum of plausible deniability.
Meanwhile, U.S. taxpayers face a $1-billion cost arising from his pernicious behavior as a director of a belly-up Colorado savings and loan. That’s justice for you.
