COUNTYWIDE : Support Groups for Cancer Are Offered

The UCI Clinical Cancer Center is providing free support groups to cancer patients and their families, regardless of where they have received treatment. The groups are sponsored by the cancer rehabilitation program at the Clinical Cancer Center in Orange.

The support groups include:

- Adults--Meets with a licensed social worker Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the UCI Medical Library, Room 212. Call: (714) 634-5644.

- Spanish-speaking adult patients and family--Meets Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the UCI Clinical Cancer Center Pavilion conference room. Call Leonard Luna, (714) 634-5644 or Nancy Downey-Hurtado, (714) 634-5152.

- Care-givers and family--Meets Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cancer Center Pavilion conference room. Call: (714) 634-5644.

- Cancervive for survivors--For cancer patients who have not received treatment for at least six months. Meets 7 to 9 p.m. every other Wednesday at the Doubletree Hotel, The City Drive, across from UCI Medical Center in Orange. Call: Crystal Welch, (714) 859-7616.

- Psychotherapy--For cancer patients able to attend weekly, meets Fridays from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. in the conference room at the UCI Clinical Cancer Center administration office, Building 44, UCI Medical Center in Orange. Call: Jann Rabin, (714) 634-5081.

- Grief recovery--Focusing on coping with the loss of a loved one, meets Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the UCI Clinical Cancer Center Pavilion. An educational program is planned for every third Monday. Call: Jodi Saia, (714) 634-6968.
