One child was killed and another suffered neck injuries Sunday when their aunt made a U-turn in front of oncoming traffic and her car was broadsided by a pickup truck, National City Police said.

Maria Felix-Aldolfo, 26, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the 12:22 p.m. collision, a spokeswoman for the National City Police Department said.

Her niece, Griselda Aldaco, 9, of Tijuana, was sitting in the front seat on the passenger side, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene with massive trauma to the head and chest. The other child, 6, was flown by Life Flight to Children’s Hospital, officials said.

None of those in Felix-Aldolfo’s car were not wearing seat belts, officials said.
