SIMI VALLEY : County May Buy Service Center

Share

The County Board of Supervisors is considering purchasing an office building in Simi Valley that it now leases for county use.

The supervisors are expected to vote Tuesday on whether to purchase the single-story, 14,400-square-foot Simi Multiservice Center from six private owners for $575,000. The lease contract between the county and the owners gives the county the option to buy the building by September.

The building, in the 2000 block of Royal Avenue, houses the county Public Social Services Agency’s district office, the county Health Care Agency’s Public Health Services and Alcohol/Drug Abuse services, and a division of the county General Services Agency.

The county pays $9,850 in monthly rent and is responsible for upkeep. Various county offices have been housed in the building since it was built in 1972.

The county estimates that the property is worth more than $1 million.
