Venezuela to Remain in OPEC: Venezuelan officials denied rumors that Venezuela would leave the 13-nation Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries but expressed concern about the cartel’s overproduction and its depressing effect on world prices. “The report that Venezuela is considering leaving OPEC is false,” said Gonzalo Barrios, president of the Democratic Action Party. “But we must protest the noncompliance with production quotas that have generated a new crisis in the organization.”
