The sister of executed Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was paid for 12 years as a supervisor at an electrical goods factory but never turned up for work, a Bucharest court was told today.

Maria Agache has been charged with defrauding the state and using improper influence to obtain refrigerators, televisions and freezers that she sold for a total of $30,000, Romania’s news agency Rompres reported.

Agache, one of several Ceausescu family members facing trial, had her case adjourned until July 19.
