ANC Leader Nelson Mandela’s Socialistic Views

The white South African government will try to salvage what it can of apartheid, insisting on “group rights” at the upcoming negotiations with Mandela and the black majority. They will counter with the demand for a unitary, democratic state, denying group rights in housing, employment, education or in any other social good. Cheering them on will be black America.

But have they considered the contradiction with their position at home, in which they favor group rights, better known as affirmative action? That white South Africans and black Americans have been at opposite ends of racially discriminatory systems does not justify the perpetuation of suspect racial categories.
