KTTV’s Summer Evergreens

TIMES STAFF WRITER

KTTV gives summer the cold shoulder by scheduling Christmas in July. But don’t dig out your parkas just yet; some of these holiday episodes go heavy on the warmth, especially Family Ties.

Alex “Bah, Humbug” Keaton sees the Scrooge he could become in “A Keaton Christmas Carol” (Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.) In another, earlier Christmas, Steven and Elyse flash back to the births of their three kids (Monday at 6:30 p.m.). And in “Miracle in Columbus” (Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.) Alex subs for Skippy as a mall Santa.

Though M*A*S*H Christmases aren’t quite so merry, the 4077th does have its own brand of celebration-in this case, trying to keep a mortally wounded soldier alive, even if it’s only through Christmas-in “Death Takes a Holiday” (Tuesday at 7 p.m.) And in a show from the first season, Hawkeye writes a Christmas letter to “Dear Dad” (Monday at 7 p.m.) describing life in a war zone.
