Digital Sound Corp.: As expected, the Santa Barbara-based voicemail equipment company reported a second-quarter loss of $548,000 on sales of $5.5 million, contrasted with a profit of $791,000 on sales of $6.5 million during the year-ago period. The firm blamed an inability to close some key orders before the end of the quarter.
