Winning Ways Continue for SPI Pharmaceuticals

Costa-Mesa based SPI Pharmaceuticals Inc. reported second-quarter net income of $4 million, up 5% from $3.8 million in the year-earlier period.

Sales for the quarter ended May 31 rose 6% to $32 million from $30.3 million. The company said second-quarter sales benefited from strong growth in its international operations, particularly Mexico and Spain.

For the first six months, net income increased 6% to $6.8 million from $6.4 million for the first six months last year. Sales rose 10% to $65.7 million from $60 million.
