Federal National Mortgage Assn.: Fannie Mae reported $289.6 million in net income for the second quarter of 1990, up 50% from the same period of last year. The organization said continued strength in its mortgage portfolio and mortgage-backed securities business helped generate its 10th-consecutive quarter of record earnings. It also said its acquisition of foreclosed properties fell to the lowest level since 1984.
